Background...
I took over for a teacher who left a few weeks before Winter Break.
Brandon: "That's my teacher."
Kid: "Really, what's her name?"
Brandon: "Ms. L"
ME: "So, you go around bragging about me?"
Brandon: "Yeah, I like you."
Kid: "What happened to your other teacher?"
Brandon: "She exploded and was replaced with a newer and better version!"

Teaching is a Wonderful Thing...Sometimes...
I love teaching. I am beginning to love teaching 4th grade. 4th graders keep it real.
I don't live in a fairy tale world of everything is sunshine and roses, but a world where you can talk about the presidential candidates, Miley Cirus, and the Super Bowl all in one discussion. By the way, no 4th grader will ever be the first to inform me of what Miley Cirus' real name is...come on, that's celebrity gossip, which is my favorite hobby.
I also have realized the perks in not working at a school where parents are roaming the halls and think they have the perfect little student.
I have learned not to judge a book by it's cover...don't judge parents with grills and neck tattoos before you see that they care about their child's education.
What is supposed to be a difficult school really has its perks. I've learned things about myself as a person and also a teacher in the short amount of time I've been teaching...and I've got plenty more to learn.
