History has been made!

We now have a whole class of 4th graders who have been sworn in as President of the United States! My class, of course, watched the inauguration today. I was super excited about it and transferred that energy onto my students. They sat and listened very respectfully to the entire inauguration. They also stood when they were asked to and raised their right hands to be sworn in. What can I say? They were only following the directions of the announcer!

I don't have much else to say except that I was very proud to share this moment in history with my students. I know, in 20 years, they will remember sitting in my classroom and watching the inauguration on TV (similar to how I remember sitting in my high school anatomy class watching the events of 9/11).

My closing anecdote:
J: "Ms. L, why aren't his children at school today?"
Me: "When your daddy becomes president, you get the day off!"
Others: "Who made that rule?"
Me: "He did! He's the president! I think it will definitely be an excused absence."
